Q. Do you co-officiate with other clergy?

A. Yes, I am pleased to co-officiate with other clergy. I have an excellent working relationship with members of the clergy of all faiths, and I will be glad to help you through the process of finding Christian clergy.

Q. Do you have any pre-requisites regarding how we will raise our children?

A. The only pre-requisite I have is that we engage in a serious discussion of the options open to you, and the implications of the decisions you make. Depending on the choice the couple makes, I will recommend resources to assure that the plan of action has the best chance of success.

Q. Can we write our own ceremony?

A. Yes, I will be delighted to help you with the process of creating a ceremony that best reflects who you are as a couple. For this process a recommend a wonderful book by my colleague, Rabbi Devon Lerner, called Celebrating Interfaith Marriages.

Q. How do we start the process?

A. For couples living in the area, I recommend that our first step be a personal visit. When we meet in person we can plan how best to proceed. If a couple lives outside of the area, it may be necessary to do preliminary work on the phone and by e-mail.

Q. What is your fee?

A. My fee includes counseling and travel, as well as developing the individualized ceremony and performing it. When other clergy are involved, I also coordinate the ceremony for both clergy. I have one inclusive fee which I will be happy to discuss with you in person.

Q. Do you officiate at baby naming ceremonies for children of interfaith parents?

A. Yes, I often officiate at baby naming and welcoming ceremonies for children of interfaith couples. Ceremonies are usually held in the home, and are appropriate for both boys and girls.

Q. My wedding will not be in New England. Can you help me?

A. While I generally limit my travel to the New England states, I can help you find clergy who perform ceremonies in other parts of the country.

Q. Can you provide us with references?

A. I have officiated for many couples all over New England, and I would be happy to give you their names and contact information.

Q. Do you perform weddings for same-sex couples?

As of May 2004. same sex couples are legally able to marry in Massachusetts. I applaud this decision, and I am very pleased to officiate at these ceremonies.

Q. Do you officiate at other life cycle events?

Yes. Rabbi Judy can officiate at all life cycle events. In addition to weddings and baby namings, I officiate at commitment ceremonies, conversions, Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies. Funerals, and other end of life ceremonies.
